If you’re a parent in Irvine—or thinking about moving here—this one’s for you.
Summer is officially here, and like many parents, you might be wondering:
How do I keep my kids engaged, learning, and off screens (at least a little)?
Whether we’re catching up over coffee or chasing our kids around a park playdate, this is exactly the kind of local insight I love to share as both a mom and a local realtor. Today, I want to tell you about three incredible summer programs through IPSF (Irvine Public Schools Foundation) that I personally recommend and trust for my own family.
These programs are educational, fun, and all located right here in Irvine—making them one of the many perks of living in this amazing community.
What is IPSF and Why Should You Care?
If you have elementary-aged kids in Irvine, chances are you’ve heard of IPSF through your school’s PTA or Thursday folder flyers. But in case you’re new:
IPSF stands for Irvine Public Schools Foundation, a nonprofit that supports our schools by offering high-quality after-school and summer enrichment programs.
These aren’t your average “worksheet camps.” IPSF classes are hands-on, thoughtfully designed, and cover everything from STEM and sports to leadership and the arts—all without the private school price tag.
As a local realtor, IPSF is something I always highlight when working with families relocating to Irvine. Access to affordable, enriching summer education like this? It’s rare—and it’s one of the many reasons families fall in love with our city.
My Top 3 IPSF Summer Picks for 2025
I’ve combed through every offering this season to find the best of the best. Whether your child is academic, athletic, or artistic, here’s a mix of three standout programs I’d recommend to any Irvine family:
1. Math Fundamentals – Boost Confidence Before School Starts
Dates: July to August 25
Time: 8:45 AM – 11:45 AM
Location: Eastwood Elementary School
Fee: $500
If your child could use a little boost in math—or you just want to keep their skills sharp—this is a fantastic choice. The class covers core concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and word problems, but does it in a way that’s interactive, game-based, and fun.
Even better, the instruction is differentiated, meaning kids who need extra support get it, while advanced learners are challenged to keep moving forward. It’s a great way to build confidence in a low-stress, high-fun environment.
Pro Tip: Since it’s a morning class, you still have afternoons free for swimming, downtime, or even a second program (see below!).
2. Junior Golf Camp – Active Fun + Life Skills
Dates: July to August 25
Time: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Location: Coverdale
Fee: $565
This is not your typical sports camp. Yes, your child will learn the basics of golf—putting, chipping, swing mechanics—but they’ll also explore strategy, course design, and distance control.
What really sets this program apart? They incorporate character education, teaching courtesy, honesty, and perseverance. It’s an awesome mix of movement, mindfulness, and mentorship.
If you combine this with the Math Fundamentals class in the morning, your child gets a full day of growth—academic in the morning, athletics in the afternoon.
3. 3D Sculpting & Modeling – Tech Meets Art
Dates: August 4–8
Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: The Artist Lab
Fee: $550
Perfect for kids who love art, tech, or gaming, this program teaches digital sculpting using an iPad app called Nomad Sculpt. Kids learn how 3D shapes work, build characters, and explore how animations in movies and games are created.
It’s STEM, art, and engineering—all rolled into one. My own kids have taken classes at The Artist Lab and absolutely loved the experience.
This is a one-week intensive, so it’s ideal if your July is packed with travel or camps and you want one solid, creative week before school starts.
